In early July 2000, SITEL
Corporation launched its virtual campus online - aptly named SITEL
University. The new system, developed by GeoLearning, is the companys
worldwide learning and development center for employees in 18 countries.
SITEL University provides Web-based courseware in a variety of subjects for
SITEL management employees across the world. Courses are available in English,
Spanish, French and German. Following a period of pilot testing, the university
became accessible to all SITEL employees in early 2002.
SITEL University provides online training to
employees in 18 countries worldwide.
To launch the system, all
SITEL global human resource leaders and their delegates received
SITEL University orientation training using the systems own webcasting
capabilities. In addition, the university was opened to a limited
number of employees for testing of the Learning Management System,
the database that sits behind the whole system.
In August 2002, SITEL Universitys virtual doors opened to all managers around
the globe, who could begin registering for courses online.
SITEL University is the online portal our employees from 18 countries around
the world will use to access a wide variety of business skills and professional
development training, explains Sheena Wilson, Senior Vice President of Human
Resources for SITEL Worldwide.
Cross-referencing with the companys employee performance and evaluation system,
PACMan, is also planned.
By using SITEL Universitys advanced e-learning system, employees are able
to access asynchronous training courses using a computer with a standard Web
browser and an Internet connection.
SITEL University also plays host to live simultaneous Internet events using
the system's webcasting features. SITEL employees enter these live, synchronous
events via the SITEL University Conference Center.
To further enhance the effectiveness of SITEL
University curricula, SITEL created a Course Prospectus clearly outlining
information such as a synopsis for each course, learning objectives
and course length. The prospectus also includes a copy of the SITEL
University Model and Course Prioritizations for 2000 and 2001. All
initial course offerings were determined by a global training needs
analysis conducted across SITEL, and subsequent consultation and
prioritization by all business units.
The global training needs analysis and subsequent course prioritization exercised
by all business units was a major undertaking in itself in early 2000, and many
people all over the world have contributed significantly to helping SITEL make
this all happen, added Wilson. We are grateful to everyone who has put time
and energy into this major project, and there is lots more to come this year
and next.
SITEL University looks forward to our business units active support for this
major undertaking and SITELs entry into the exciting e-learning world.
